Obama campaigns to be Chinese emperor!
At least, that's what it sounds like. For some reason unknown to me, Obama thinks holding a town hall for students in China is actually helping some sort of something. Hmmm...
Perhaps we Americans are too wise for him, so he has to now gain the approval of other countries?
I don't really think the president of the greatest country in the world (although I'm starting to lean towards Estonia) should be off giving "town hall meetings" to ask about what Chinese students think about God knows what. Apparently, he's taking questions randomly from around the room, as well as answering questions.
According to Ben Rhodes, the NSC adviser for strategic communications, there will be a live stream on whitehouse.gov to cover the event. However, when asked at a briefing by senior officials if the questions were going to be asked live and unfiltered, Rhodes replied, "Not -- no. I mean, we'd never do that -- I mean, not in the sense that a question is popping up on a screen in front of the President."
Interesting! And when asked if the president will go around the room calling on random people, Rhodes replied, "Yes... The President will deliver brief opening remarks -- 10 to 15 minutes. Then he'll take questions from -- he'll be calling on people in the room. And among -- within that format, there will be questions that have come in via the Internet."
Veeeeery interesting! I expect it to be rigged.
Sorry, but I do! It sounds like POTUS is going to stand there holding a piece of paper reading e-mail messages from "Chinese students" that are really pre-typed questions, with a pre-typed answer underneath. After that, the Q&A period starts, and Obama will call on people from the audience... people rigged there with a question Obama already knew was coming.
Convenient the way it will work! So, just being there in China is dopey enough. But if it goes the way I think it's going to go, then that's even... dopeyer... yes...
